Error: The global template, NORMAL.DOT...open as an add-in...(due to location).
Error:
The global template, NORMAL.DOT, is already open as an add-in program.
Cause:
Either the File Locations startup settings are directed to the same location as the templates subdirectory or the BUFFERS line may be missing in the CONFIG.SYS.
Solution:
Change the startup location of files in the File Locations tab or add the buffers line to the CONFIG.SYS.
Do one of the following:
1) Change the location of the startup files.
a) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Options...'
b) Click the 'File Locations' tab.
c) Select the 'Startup' subdirectory.
d) Click 'OK'.
2) Add the BUFFERS line to the CONFIG.SYS.
NOTE: Make sure that the Windows NotePad is open.
a) Click 'Start' to display the Windows 'Start' menu.
Start menu
b) Select 'Programs' and select the 'MS-DOS' prompt.
c) Open the CONFIG.SYS to the Notepad
d) Type BUFFERS=30.
e) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save'.
3) Reopen Word.
